« Previous EntriesA little hiatus…
Friday, March 28th, 2008…while this thoroughly northeastern girl makes her way to Austin for a few days for barbecue and 80 degree weather (I know - try to contain your envy). But not to worry - I will be back and blogging next week!

Orla Kiely Paper.
Wednesday, March 26th, 2008Orla Kiely’s colorful, pattern-driven designs originally appeared on bags and have grown over the years to appear on apparel, housewares, and now… paper! Hop over to decor8 for a sneak preview of their forthcoming paper collection and a giveaway of some of these items. The collection will debut in the U.S. next month.
Moleskine envy.
Monday, March 24th, 2008The hipster artist’s favorite accessory is getting a facelift. Mike emailed me about these custom engraved Moleskine notebooks from Engrave Your Book today (as seen on Uncrate), and I couldn’t be more delighted. You can either choose from a series of featured designs, or upload your own image to engrave. Intrepid designers [...]
Tongue in cheek.
Monday, March 24th, 2008I always appreciate a little wink-wink irony, and I’ve found it in PolYesterday’s “Insert Artwork Here” print. Does this remind anyone else of this cheeky Magritte?

Happy spring.
Friday, March 21st, 2008It’s still windy and freezing in Boston, but with the turning of the seasons I can’t help but daydream about balmy weather and sitting on the sunny Common, assembling giant gourmet sandwiches on a gingham picnic blanket. (Seriously. This is what I think about.) The gorgeous color spectrum on British designer Jonathan [...]

Thursday, March 20th, 2008Loving the simple and beautifully handmade paper and home goods at Shim + Sons’ brand new online shop. Here’s a peek at their line of everyday cards accented with cotton fabric.

Check out this video of Toroni [...]

An aquatic birthday.
Monday, March 10th, 2008In honor of my sister’s sweet 16th, I’ve designed the printable birthday card below, loosely inspired by her Pices sign.
Want to send this to a friend? You’ll need:
4-bar folded cards in Superfine White
4 bar envelopes (I like these, in Red)
my card-sized printable design
Or, if you’d prefer to print to a standard-sized sheet and cut [...]
Finding beauty in the mundane.
Friday, March 7th, 2008Some of the best design transforms the mundane into the beautiful. These two pieces are, I think, great examples of this.
UK artist Bethan Laura Wood creates these teacups that are treated to stain in predetermined places, so that lovely patterns are revealed over time. I love the idea that she’s harnessed inevitable wear [...]
