Irresistibly absurd.
September 22, 2008
It’s birthday season in my social circle and in the midst of all the attendant events, a friend introduced me to the Los Angeles stationer Fomato.
Unidentifiable bloblike creatures (that seem vaguely inspired by contemporary Japanese graphic design) prance through brightly-colored three-panel greeting cards, dispensing hilariously irrelevant how-tos and factoids - from how to be a pessimist (”This mango is sweet and delicious… but I’ve already had 12 delicious mangoes today”) to how to convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius (”It feels like 100 degrees Fahrenheit in hrrr” - why do I think this is so funny?).
The online shop is opening in November, but until then Boston-area peeps can get these at Black Ink (among other places).
