Letterform.

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Happy 2009! I am back and blogging after a long New Year’s weekend full of snowboarding (I am pleased to report I am still in one piece), cooking, and prancing around in long underwear. Let’s kick off the year with a look at Chicago-based Letterform’s line of punny letterpress cards that belie their [...]

Oh-nine.

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

We just got pummeled with snow all weekend, so I’ve been holed up - staying warm, making delicious chili, falling asleep without warning, and thinking about flipping the page to balmier months.
Speaking of which - with 2009 just around the corner, it’s a good time to do a little survey of my favorite calendars. [...]

Love these pleasingly subdued yet carefully crafted household wants from Anthroplogie…

Pretty packages.

My mom always foists the job of wrapping gifts onto me, but it’s one chore I never mind - and how could I, when there are items like these to work with?

Shown above are an assortment of handmade graphic wrapping papers from Rifferaff (fantastic blog here on the crafting biz); candy cane wrapping paper from [...]

Pretty much irresistible.

Evan and Nichole Robertson’s Little Brown Pen offers downloadable stationery and gift templates for sale on their etsy shop, to which you “just. add. paper.” Just added are templates for their holiday-themed items to give and keep. Watch their sweet video for a demonstration.

Too… cute. Cannot. Handle.

…for birthday people of all ages.

O, snow.

Ok I had a last little taste of sunshine and beaches over Thanksgiving, but now that I’m back home, I pretty much have winter to look forward to (and I’ve armed myself with a big coat accordingly). However, it’s not all doom and gloom - you know I love the design work that proliferates [...]

A graphic a day.

Maine graphic artist Christopher David Ryan (of keyboard shortcut fame) posts one of his pieces each day on his website, making for a very cool web gallery. His work exhibits a range of styles, but my personal favorites are ones like these, which use text and simple graphics to make clever effects.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Keep order at your table with these cute and simple letterpressed placecards from Small Square Design (thanks, Basak!).
Happy Thanksgiving all! I’m off to eat my weight in turkey* and pie.

* Don’t forget to brine your bird - I hear it’s all the rage these days and I just read a good explanation of how [...]

I kind of love these.

The bright side(s).

Monday, November 24th, 2008

It was absolutely freezing in Boston this weekend… the kind of weather that makes me wonder why I live here - below-freezing temps, blustery winds, early sundown - the works. Cruel, cruel, times! I foolishly attempted to take a stroll to meet some friends on Saturday afternoon, and let’s just say they finally [...]

Fugu Fugu Press.

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I happened upon a charming holiday card featuring a pair of happy chestnuts today as I was stocking up on supplies from my favorite shop and to my dismay, I didn’t have my notebook on hand (a frequent occurrence and very serious personal flaw, I know), so I quickly, mentally scribbled down the name of [...]
