Creepies.

Friday, October 10th, 2008

When did it get so cold out? I was just hitting my stride tan- and A/C usage-wise when suddenly, it was fall. Alas. Though I prefer summer, at least the change in season means I can have pumpkin pie (best pie ever) and take my fierce boots out of storage.
It also means [...]

Draw draw draw.

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

The drawings at draw draw draw make me smile - the style reminds me of the illustrations in some of my favorite books growing up, and the blog is like a kind of droll graphical diary. Artist Liz Tjepkema says:
Computers frustrate me, but I like blogs. This blog will feature drawings documenting my stuff [...]

Small Square Design.

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Seriously sweet letterpressed cards, tags, and other items from Basak Notz’s San Francisco-based Small Square Design. I love the sketchy, doodly feel of these designs.

For more, check out the etsy shop or Basak’s blog, full of mistakes. Boston-area readers can find her products in-store at the Harvard Book Store - and I was [...]

Irresistibly absurd.

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

It’s birthday season in my social circle and in the midst of all the attendant events, a friend introduced me to the Los Angeles stationer Fomato.
Unidentifiable bloblike creatures (that seem vaguely inspired by contemporary Japanese graphic design) prance through brightly-colored three-panel greeting cards, dispensing hilariously irrelevant how-tos and factoids - from how to be a [...]

Pancake & Franks.

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Gorgeous contours and textures from Arizona-based Stacy Pancake’s Pancake & Franks, taking their inspiration from nature - things as simple as wood, garlic bulbs, and sea urchins don’t escape artistic notice here.

A. Favorite Design.

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Cheerfully simple letterpress cards from Chicago graphic designer turned letterpress artist a. favorite (a.k.a. Amber Favorite). Vintage signs, typewriters, and wood block type are among the themes that pop up frequently in her charming line.

Present & Correct.

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Lots of charming paper products from London shop Present & Correct, including originals as well as items from designers as near as Peckham and as far-flung as Seoul. Take a peek!

Clockwise from top left: Retro-chef Letter Set | Bonne Pensee Notebook (always a good thing to have!) | Sveriges Notebook | Notisbok | [...]

Up and comers.

Monday, September 1st, 2008

More from Minted, which I posted about recently. In addition to offering their regular selection of social stationery, they run periodic Design Challenges, in which they pose a, well, design challenge inspired by real people and accept entries from anyone up to the creative task. Winning designs are printed by Minted and put [...]

Snow & Graham on the interwebs.

Friday, August 29th, 2008

After a long wait, Snow & Graham’s website is at last live! Here’s a preview of their line of letterpress.

Also, there is a whole section on the site dedicated to sweet treats, for no reason other than that… they like them. I knew I was totally into them.

That’s all for today - happy [...]

2009 on my mind.

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Egg Press‘ 2009 calendar is now available on their website. Actually, make that their two 2009 calendars - one letterpress-printed and one offset-printed. I’m generally a fan of the tactile quality of letterpress, but the gorgeously vibrant designs on the offset calendar makes this a tough choice!

Taking notes.

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

(Taking the Boltbus down to NYC today for the weekend. The wifi’s a little iffy but blog I must! - come dropped connections or close quarters.)
Jot down thoughts and to-do’s in these new lovelies from cake + milk paperie. Line graphics are hand-printed in subtle milky ink on brown-paper moleskine cahiers - beautifully [...]

An other half.

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Thinking of someone? Send them one of these sweet notes from elum. Letterpressed onto cotton rag paper, the reduced color palates, white space, and free-flowing lines keep these two cuties clean and cheerful.

And as always, visit the website to see their full line of letterpressed invitations and announcements.
