Just for funsies
« Previous EntriesFomato for all.
Monday, March 2nd, 2009At last! My favorite absurdist cards are now available online at Fomato’s shop. Here are some highlights (“It’s pizza’s job to be incredible”? “I’m busy with this burrito”? “It is a super ugly mango”? I’m totally laugh-crying here).
Short and sweet.
Monday, January 12th, 2009Love these 2″ x 3.5″ mini notes and postcards from Tara Hogan’s Ink + Wit (all soy inks and recycled papers, of course). Perfect for a succinct little note.
Fugu Fugu Press.
Saturday, November 22nd, 2008I happened upon a charming holiday card featuring a pair of happy chestnuts today as I was stocking up on supplies from my favorite shop and to my dismay, I didn’t have my notebook on hand (a frequent occurrence and very serious personal flaw, I know), so I quickly, mentally scribbled down the name of [...]
Draw draw draw.
Friday, October 3rd, 2008The drawings at draw draw draw make me smile – the style reminds me of the illustrations in some of my favorite books growing up, and the blog is like a kind of droll graphical diary. Artist Liz Tjepkema says: Computers frustrate me, but I like blogs. This blog will feature drawings documenting my stuff [...]
Small Square Design.
Monday, September 29th, 2008Seriously sweet letterpressed cards, tags, and other items from Basak Notz’s San Francisco-based Small Square Design. I love the sketchy, doodly feel of these designs. For more, check out the etsy shop or Basak’s blog, full of mistakes. Boston-area readers can find her products in-store at the Harvard Book Store – and I was pleased [...]
Pancake & Franks.
Monday, September 15th, 2008Gorgeous contours and textures from Arizona-based Stacy Pancake’s Pancake & Franks, taking their inspiration from nature – things as simple as wood, garlic bulbs, and sea urchins don’t escape artistic notice here.
A. Favorite Design.
Monday, September 8th, 2008Cheerfully simple letterpress cards from Chicago graphic designer turned letterpress artist a. favorite (a.k.a. Amber Favorite). Vintage signs, typewriters, and wood block type are among the themes that pop up frequently in her charming line. Via happy cavalier.
Present & Correct.
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008Lots of charming paper products from London shop Present & Correct, including originals as well as items from designers as near as Peckham and as far-flung as Seoul. Take a peek! Clockwise from top left: Retro-chef Letter Set | Bonne Pensee Notebook (always a good thing to have!) | Sveriges Notebook | Notisbok | Good [...]
Simply ink.
Friday, August 15th, 2008I love this Berlin, Berlin drawing from Helsinki-based artist Hanna Konola. It’s somehow simultaneously provincial and etheral… all wavering daylight and ink-and-water purity. Abstract forms and subdued colors with a shot of pink suggest bare branches, snowscapes, and frozen-over ponds on her silkscreened Talvi/Winter cards (available on Rare Device). Pretty simplicity in the presentation here [...]
A trick of the eye.
Monday, July 14th, 2008I admit I was fooled when I first saw these… These lifelike-looking “biscuits” are actually thick debossed greeting cards. From London-based Present & Correct.
Paper for thought.
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008Some reflections from enjoy design…
I facestalk you every day.
Monday, June 2nd, 2008O, the world we live in… This is based on a gchat I actually had. I’m guessing this speaks to more people than would readily admit it. To send this to a stalkee, you’ll need: 4-bar folded cards in Superfine White my card-sized printable design Or, if you’d prefer to print to a standard-sized sheet [...]
