Zen, and a new year.
Monday, December 29th, 2008Hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend! I immensely enjoyed the little lull and spent most of it cooking, mugging for photos, and sleeping.
So perhaps it’s because they are aligned with my state of mind, but I’m loving these Zen-inducing photographs from Lobster and Swan (also see their etsy shop), Pam Garrison, and Sköna [...]
White and azure.
Wednesday, November 12th, 2008Some gorgeously airy photography from Canada-based Jennifer Squires Productions. Jennifer emailed me to tell me about her new collection of photos featuring scenes from Greece, including Gateway to the Past and Farther Than the Eye Can See (both shown below) - but I just love her other work too, all graceful stillness. Visit [...]
Thuss Farrell.
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008Beautiful images from photography and design studio Thuss Farrell (duo Rebecca Thuss and Patrick Farrell). I love how lush these photos are in color, texture, and mood - even the pair of paper lunch bags.
First blog birthday!
Friday, September 5th, 2008For its birthday, I’m giving it… voilà! A second sidebar and thus, a little more room to grow.
Strictly speaking I started blogging in January of last year, but it wasn’t until early September that I wrote what I consider to be its first post as an art and design blog (making it a [...]
Tranquil tablescapes.
Wednesday, August 13th, 2008(Hmm… today is apparently a good day for alliterative blog post titles!)
Anyway, I always enjoy visiting Carol Gillot’s Paris Breakfasts for her sweet watercolors, and today she has up these truly lovely photos - I have to share. I’m a sucker for hydrangea and heather (among other things), so I also love those [...]
A plastic menagerie.
Wednesday, June 25th, 2008I like the innocent, timeless quality of these Elizabeth Soule polaroid prints. Her plastic animal figurines turn up in unexpected places - a city windowsill, lumbering across a map, or by a full-size cupcake. Visit her etsy shop for more.
“And yet for all that I still had never gotten used to the breathtaking impermanence of things.”
Wednesday, June 18th, 2008These photos of ice-carved letters from Kotama Bouabane (from the series Melting Words) are a beautifully plaintive reminder - when so many of our written words are captured and cached - that sometimes the most affecting words are fleeting.
Jen Gotch.
Monday, June 9th, 2008More ethereally beautiful Polaroid photography from prop designer Jen Gotch. Check out her blog and flickr for more.

Life is beautiful.
Friday, June 6th, 2008Armed with her vintage Polaroid camera, photographer Jennifer Altman finds beauty in the little things - a drained cup of cocoa, a half-dozen fresh eggs, a pile of dishes waiting to be washed, breakfast… The graininess and soft blur inherent in her Polaroid prints lend these shots a lush timelessness. Just gorgeous.
