Egg pants… and the Supermarket.

Monday, July 14th, 2008

First off, these are amazing.

Egg pants! Ok really they are just egg cups with feet, but sometimes it’s all about what you name your product. Egg pants! The world has more joy in it now, thanks to Kegan Fisher and Liz Kinnmark’s Design Glut.
I found this on Supermarket, an online shop chock-full [...]

Like reading my secret soul.

Friday, July 4th, 2008

I’ve always liked tag clouds (must be the unholy mashup of word nerd and computer scientist), but Wordle’s are the prettiest I’ve seen. Here are some of mine. (Who knew “wine” would be such a big one? Seriously?)

Color Chart.

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Color aficionados everywhere will appreciate MoMA’s first-ever online exhibition, Color Chart (on view through May 12). The “show” features the works of 44 artists from 1918 to 2008, including this one by Swiss artist Niele Toroni (Imprints of a No. 50 paintbrush repeated at regular intervals of 30 cm.).

Check out this video of Toroni [...]

Random Creative.

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

So I was Googling myself today (yes I do it from time to time; I’ll admit it) and discovered that I’ve been added to Random Creative’s list! What is Random Creative, you ask?

This is a no-frills list of exceptional creative websites I’ve encountered on the internet, that I otherwise may not have found if [...]

What?

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Well, hello, what have we here? Four downloadable, printable, do-it-yourself paper bird toys from illustrator Josh McKible. I wouldn’t mind perching one of these on my desk, and McKible’s approach to putting these out there resonates with me for some reason…

For more on McKible (also known as mckibillo), check out his visually striking, [...]

This takes Bembo’s Zoo to an entirely new level…

This is Olivier Beaudoin’s “Typolution”, set to “Nostrand” by Ratatat.

Find your design style.

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Jessica Jones at How About Orange posted a link to this HGTV “What’s Your Design Style?” quiz. It pegs me as “eccentric with a touch of hip, sweet and classy”: “For you, it’s all about the mix. Any style is welcome in your world as long as it complements something else.” Well… [...]

A typographic menagerie.

Monday, October 29th, 2007

For a fun five-minute diversion, check out the web version of Roberto de Vicq de Cumptich’s children’s book, Bembo’s Zoo. A whole lineup of animals are cleverly formed out of the characters of serif font Bembo, complete with sound effects and quirky animation. Below are the hippo, ibis, and octopus.

The ultimate meta-art gallery.

Flickr user axb500 invited me to add the pictures I took during my last visit to MoMA Manhattan to his massive compilation of other visitor-snapped photographs, theMoMAproject [NYC]- a.k.a. iMoMA. With nearly 3,500 members and over 23,000 photographs as of this writing, I… can’t stop looking! There is art. There are close-ups [...]

Resources, services, and inspiration for creative people.

Friday, September 28th, 2007

In my web- and blog-surfing, I frequently find interesting resources for creative people, cool artists, and creative small businesses offering lovely products. Since I can’t blog about all of them and e-mailing notes about them to myself is really beginning to clutter up my inbox, I’ve decided to keep a list for my own reference [...]

One-room tunes.

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Ever hear and fall in love with a song that’s so obscure and indie that you can’t (il)legally download it yet or find its videos on YouTube? And then tear your hair out because it’s so good and all you want to do is hear it again, but you can’t? And then have [...]

Color is for lovers.

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Colour Lovers is a treasure trove of color trends and palette ideas for designers, giving members a place to create and comment on new colors and combinations. They even specify hex and RGB values for you. Shown here are “Love Addict” and “Cosmopolitan“.

I love color, so I love this website. It also [...]
